COVID-19 – Hybrid Event – Online via Zoom and Face-to-Face at CPA Australia’s NSW Office

This meeting will be held as a hybrid event both face-to-face at the office of CPA Australia at Level 3, 111 Harrington Street, Sydney NSW 2000 and online at CTDG’s Zoom webinar.

We have received confirmation that CPA Australia’s training rooms are open for discussion groups meetings subject to the CPA’s rules. Therefore, this upcoming event will be a hybrid event at both at the venue and online.

TOPIC: Taxation Opportunities with Testamentary Trusts – Getting it Right.

In summary, the presentation will cover the following:

  1. With estate sizes ever on the rise, an advisor needs to know about the taxation opportunities available with different estate plans;
  2. Why the testamentary trust is superior to an inter vivos discretionary trust;
  3. The application of the ‘excepted trust income’ rule in light of recent tax integrity measures introduced;
  4. The NSW duty and land tax surcharges impacts on testamentary trusts and what options are available.

SPEAKER: Mimi Su – Senior Associate – Matthews Folbigg Lawyers

Mimi has over 12 years legal experience in wills, trusts, superannuation and estates. She specialises in complex estate planning for high-net worth individuals and business/family succession matters

She has extensive experience in advising clients on testamentary trusts, special disability trusts, unit trusts and discretionary trusts and has seen the countless problems that can arise. She has successfully assisted families with the complex issues of inter-generational wealth transfer and minimising the risks of disputes down the track.

In addition, Mimi regularly advises clients in relation to contested estate matters appearing before the Supreme Court in family provision claims, capacity issues, undue influence and trust disputes. She has also assisted many clients with superannuation disputes involving the Superannuation Complaints Tribunal and also the Guardianship Division of NCAT.

  • A completion certificate will be issued via LMS after the event for attendances who check in with our staff and you have attended the session for more than thirty-five (35) minutes. We are unable to issue a certificate unless we have a record of your attendance.
  • Attendance records will be provided to CPA Australia, however, it is up to you to update your own CPD records/CPD Diary. We cannot update the same for you.
  • You may wish to update your profile with us to include your CPA Membership number which we will report to CPA Australia accordingly.
  • You should only claim for the attended hours only.

  • Location: Level 3 111 Harrington Street Sydney New South Wales 2000
  • Seats Capacities: 40 seats max
  • Covid Safe Plan: refer to the CPA Australia Sydney Office’s COVIDSafe plans 
  • At this stage, we are taking bookings for the face-to-face meeting, but it will be limited to an estimated 40 Seats at best at this stage.
  • Notwithstanding, we will issue all registered members with Zoom Webinar details in any event, just in case if the face-to-face is no longer possible or if the capacities are reduced.

  • Our webinar will be provided via Zoom’s online Webinar platform in addition to the face-to-face meeting.
