Jemma will provide an update on superannuation for the last quarter, including the details on the new tax for super balances exceeding $3 million.

Jemma Sanderson is a Director of Cooper Partners Financial Services, heading up their SMSF specialist services. Jemma provides strategic advice on SMSFs, estate planning and wealth management to clients, as well as technical support to accounting, legal and financial planning groups. Jemma is one of Australia’s leading advisor in relation to SMSFs and is highly regarded for her expertise in this area. She advises in all aspects of operating a SMSF including compliance with the complex rules surrounding SMSFs, contribution strategies, commencing pensions, ensuring the fund has maximised its after tax returns, borrowing strategies and succession of the SMSF. Jemma’s experience includes developing business and estate succession plans, establishing appropriate structures to protect your personal and family wealth from being exposed to any unforeseen business event, and project managing family settlements. Jemma heads up our Family Office services where we co-ordinate all your professional advisors to optimise the outcomes so all providers are focussed on the same key objectives of your family wealth in a tax efficient manner.

Prior to joining Cooper Partners in June 2008, Jemma worked for Grange Securities and subsequently Lehman Brothers Australia as a Strategic Planner for three and a half years, after working in a similar role at Goldman Sachs JBWere.

Jemma has a Bachelor of Commerce from UWA and is a Certified Financial Planner, a Specialist Member of the SMSF Association, Chartered Tax Adviser and Trusts and Estate Practitioner. Jemma is highly sought after as a presenter on superannuation and SMSFs across Australia for the Tax Institute, Institute of Chartered Accountants, CPA and SMSF Association. Jemma is the author of the Tax Institute’s popular publication the SMSF Guide, now in its eighth edition. Jemma is also the author and convener of the Graduate Diploma in Applied Taxation Law Advanced Superannuation unit facilitated by the Tax Institute.

In September 2017, Jemma was named as the SMSF Adviser of the Year at the inaugural National Women in Finance awards. Cooper Partners Financial Services was also awarded WA’s SMSF Firm of the Year in November 2017. Jemma received the SMSF Association Chairman’s Award 2017 in February 2018.
Continuing Professional Development Point (CPD Point)
- This event will account for up to a maximum of one (1) CPD Point per session.
- A completion certificate will be issued via LMS after the event for attendances who check in with our staff and you have attended the session for more than thirty-five (35) minutes. We are unable to issue a certificate unless we have a record of your attendance.
- Attendance records will be provided to CPA Australia, however, it is up to you to update your own CPD records/CPD Diary. We cannot update the same for you.
- You may wish to update your profile with us to include your CPA Membership number which we will report to CPA Australia accordingly.
- You should only claim for the attended hours only.
